Course Content
Level 1:
We will learn how to put the castanets on our hands and how to perform the basic technique – the click. This technique will be the foundation of the entire play.
We will also discuss how to connect with the music we hear and how to practice effectively while keeping it enjoyable.
Level 2:
In this lesson, we will show you how to perform a technique called tremolo – a popular and impressive technique. Thanks to this, we’ll be able to start playing in the second lesson already.
How to play? Playing a musical instrument is a creative activity, and it doesn't mean just practicing tirelessly and then performing somewhere.
As a bonus, we have another of dad’s inventions for you – a special technique that makes your practice up to 5 times more effective than using a metronome.
Level 3:
We’re moving on to the more advanced part of the course. This is where the game changes – we’ll start playing much more complex rhythms at faster tempos, and most importantly, we’ll get to the heart of castanet playing and what makes them so unique. We’ll learn to alternate hands while playing.
We’ll also learn how to improvise, bringing creativity and personal expression into our playing. This is where you'll truly make the music your own
Level 4:
We will learn how to play the right accent, which will allow us to start playing real rhythms. Our playing will become faster.
We will also talk about how to create a safe space to be creative. A place where you test different versions of your ideas.
Level 5:
Once we master the left accent in this lesson, we’ll be able to play almost anything. After completing this lesson, we’ll enter the part of the course where we no longer focus on technique, but on tricks and combinations that allow us to play any rhythm.
It’s also time to discover what we can offer to the world that no one else can – what makes us UNIQUE, and that’s our authenticity. Our greatest strength.
Level 6:
We’ve learned to alternate our hands.
Now it’s time to decorate our castanet playing—to play with contrast, dynamics, and make sure our performance always has the power to surprise. Within the alternating stroke, we’ll learn to play double time, thirty-second notes, and connect them with an impressive tremolo. But we’ll also talk about the power of silence.
Level 7:
We will learn to play triplets and swinging rhythms. We’ll also explore how to use the index finger for even faster tempos and how to embellish rhythms with tremolo. Finally, we’ll go over everything we’ve learned so far to make sure we’re fully aware of the arsenal of techniques and rhythms we can use in our creative playing.
